Italy's History!
Italy is one of the most favorable destinations in the world when it comes to traveling. With its popular food, memorable art and desirable fashion, Italy has been defined as one of the most exquisite countries around. With such a high expectation, many wonder how Italy has become known as the grand country we know today. Because Italy was/is considered to be located in the Fertile Crescent, this made it possible for further advancement than the surrounding countries. As talked about in Gun, Steel, and Germs, the land within the Fertile Crescent was fertile, helping the different crops and animals to develop, resulting in the land to prosper and evolve into the modern day Italy today. The groups that had an influence on the advancement of Italy were separated into 3 groups, known as Etruscans, Latins and Italians.
In the earliest settlement of Italy, the beginning of civilization began by the Etruscans, who showed up around 800 BC. They were among the first to arrive into Italy from the Eastern Mediterranean and settled into what is now considered the modern-day Tuscany. They were responsible for building some of Italy’s cities that we know today, like Arezzo, Perugia and Cortona. In the early settlement, they engineered marshes and constructed roads. Etruscans were very skilled artists, ranging from making terracotta sculptures, working in bronze and making jewelry of gold and silver.
The Italians were a group of people who lived in the beginning times of Scandinavia, where they made the most prominent growth in civilization. The more that the Italians began to develop, they began to grasp the concept on how to build houses to improve on the houses or hut that their people already lived in. They appreciated the skill of agriculture, using the crops they were growing as a resource for food. Along with the idea of agriculture, the Italians learned the technique of fire and how it is beneficial to their agriculture. They began to develop the ideas of boats and wagons, coming to the conclusion that goods need be transported in order for people in surrounding areas could receive them, helping them to make a profit. They also produced weapons based on the moldings of silver and gold.
The Latins established their settlement in the central part if Italy, a city called Lazio, which is ancient Roman times was known as Latium. Latins were farmers and herders, who lived in huts. Latins would offered milk, cheese, vegetables, fruit, and wool in exchange for tools of metal or leather goods from other countries to help them prosper. The villages that they lived in were formed into small communities governed by a king. The area that the Latins were located, Latium, consisted of a land along the shore of the River Tiber. When the Latins settled within the hills, which were rich in vegetation and easily to cultivate the soil, they realized how essential they would be for agriculture and trade because of its perfect area of being next to the river and next to the sea. In order to demand this area as their own, they reclaim the marshes and took control of the waters of the Tiber. The River Tiber was of great advantage for them because the water would overflow several times and flood the areas surrounding it. As they made the plain fertile, they built their villages or communities within the hills above the river, which helped to protect themselves from their neighbors, like the Ligurains and Phoenicians, who envied the growing prosperity of the Latins.
The Etruscans, Italians, and Latins were among the groups of people who had an influence on the history of Italy. With their settlements and ideals, these groups molded the post-modern Italy into the modern-day Italy that we all know today. With their intelligence, the Etruscans, Italians, and Latins were all given the chance to advance rapidly through their environment and resources.

Population Pyramids
From 1950 to 2000, the population had increased in Italy. The 1950 population pyramid shows that the max. of the population was between the ages of 10 and 25. The 2010 population pyramid shows that the max. of the population was between the ages of 20 and 40. In 1950, there were more women than there were men within the population. But there was a change in 2010 because there was an equal amount of men and women within the population. It is also shown that there is an increase in both men and women who lived longer in 2010 than they were in 1950.
